Singer's OnlyFans Gets Band Kicked Off Tour

Apparently having an OnlyFans was too over the line for one Christian metal band’s fanbase, who bullied an opening act into dropping out of an upcoming tour.

Sara Skinner (nicknamed “Killboy”) is the frontwoman for Bad Wolves, a metal band based out of Los Angeles, California. The group had planned to join Memphis-based Christian metal outfit Skillet on a tour of the U.S. this fall, but Skillet’s fanbase had other plans. 

According to Skinner, Skillet booted Bad Wolves off the tour after outcry from their fans. The singer said in a video on Instagram, “Skillet announced us on their tour, and their fans had a field day doing very extensive research that their booking agents and management did not do,” Skinner said. “Upon their findings, I am a trans, OnlyFans, bitch. Now unfortunately, only one of those things is true. Have fun finding out and we will see you on the next tour.” 

Bad Wolves fans immediately struck back at Skillet, with one Instagram fan commenting, “No hate like Christian love strikes again. Not surprising considering [S]killet is a Christian nationalist mouthpiece *laughing emoji*”. Another fan on Reddit said, “skillet? transphobic? i could not have guessed.”

Skillet, as a Christian band, have long been critical of the LGBTQ+ community, often applying their traditional Christian values to their music. As a direct result of their rhetoric, some of their fans have felt alienated, torn between Christian tenets like “love thy neighbor” and the band’s perceived disgust for those living a non-Christian life. OnlyFans, despite transcending boundaries as more than just an adult website and making millionaires out of regular people, is widely unpopular among Christians. 

While Skinner isn’t transgender, she’s not sure why that matters. Bad Wolves showed support for LGBTQ+ fans on their social media in a post reading, “love our sw trans and lgbtq family”. 

Skinner joined Bad Wolves in June of this year, after the band’s previous vocalist, Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz left to join Vegas-based rockers Falling In Reverse as their touring bassist. The band’s tour with Skillet was supposed to be Skinner’s first time performing live as lead vocalist. For now, Skillet’s tour still includes the other opening act, emo band Escape The Fate, a band co-founded by Falling In Reverse’s lead vocalist Ronnie Radke. 

Though one could argue this kind of discrimination could be expected from a Christian metal band, the stigma surrounding OnlyFans goes further. OnlyFans creators have somehow managed to increase their influence despite being given a hard time almost everywhere. Just recently, creator Isla Moon was denied service at her bank because they didn’t feel comfortable loaning her money for her fishing show prominently featuring adult content creators. On Instagram, one of the largest social media platforms, users are specifically not allowed to link their OnlyFans account anywhere, instead doing so via third-party “landing page” links. Even after following these rules, creators like Lily Phillips have still had their accounts suspended or removed. She says Meta’s bots latch on to the word OnlyFans, so she’s careful never to use it. “We’re really being discriminated against,” Phillips said. 

As for Sara Skinner and Bad Wolves, it’s unclear what’s next, but her band is sticking by her. Though they don’t appear to have any upcoming shows, they’re eager to get to work. Bad Wolves founder John Boecklin said, “ When we started looking for the next voice of Bad Wolves, we weren’t looking for someone to fill a spot; we were looking for someone who could help push this band into its next chapter.” The drummer added, “[Skinner] has an incredible voice, undeniable presence and the kind of versatility that allows us to take our songwriting to places we’ve never gone before. Beyond the talent, she’s brought a renewed energy and excitement into this band.”
