After American Pie, Shannon Elizabeth became a household name and a sex symbol almost overnight. Twenty-seven years have passed since then, and now her second act on OnlyFans has become more exciting and successful than most 52 year-olds could ever dream of.

Shannon Elizabeth has always been a trend-setter. Long before the internet became as ubiquitous as it is today, she started a website. At the time, only adult film stars had webpages, so Elizabeth was widely questioned for her decision to make one. Her answer was simple, “we thought that was the next step in the evolution of things.” The website ended up being a huge hit. At the height of her American Pie stardom, Elizabeth would regularly livestream and talk to fans until there was so much site traffic, the servers crashed.

Those primitive websites of the early 2000s have since been largely replaced and consolidated by sites like OnlyFans, allowing celebrities and models alike to have their own “site”, while giving them the opportunity to earn money from subscription sales and tips. If the internet still had those outdated servers now, there’s no doubt Elizabeth would still be crashing them. She earned over $1 million on OnlyFans in just nine days

“It was really surprising, and I was honored that my fans came out and supported me. I had no idea what to expect, and the response has been really amazing,” Elizabeth said, adding, “I’m chatting with people all the time and it’s been a lot of fun.”

Elizabeth has certainly grown more popular in the years since American Pie first hit theaters, starring in successful films like Scary Movie and television shows like King of The Hill and That 70’s Show. It’s perhaps fitting that she’s now part of an online platform growing as dramatically as she has.

When OnlyFans first started in 2016, it was billed as a way for celebrities to make extra cash by giving fans a closer look at their life. At the time, adult content was prohibited, with this ban being lifted, then reinstated, then lifted again for good in 2021. During the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020 is when OnlyFans saw the most rapid growth, from just 20 million users to 120 million. Fast forward to 2026 and OnlyFans has more than 400 million users and the site itself is worth about $3.1 billion.

OnlyFans came into Shannon Elizabeth’s life at an ideal time for her. She was going through a divorce and opportunities to act in Hollywood were drying up. This was partly due to her living in South Africa for her animal charity and partly because of ageism in Hollywood, which has derailed many careers. Many actresses like Elizabeth have been kicked to the curb because a handful of Hollywood executives believe they’re no longer “in demand”. Normally, it’s the fans who get left in the dust, but that’s where OnlyFans comes in.

Instead of arbitrarily deciding a celebrity’s “shelf life”, OnlyFans offers genuine fans of these celebrities a place to interact, while giving the celebrities themselves control over their content and 80% of the profit. This works perfectly for Shannon Elizabeth. Her manager, Joseph D. Reitman (who just so happens to be her first husband) says her personality aligns perfectly with what OnlyFans is designed for. “Shannon has always been someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with and giving back to her fans, and [OnlyFans] allows her to do that in a more direct, meaningful way than ever before. It’s a powerful model, and right now, there’s nothing more effective at facilitating that connection than OnlyFans,” Reitman explains.

At 52, Shannon Elizabeth still has undeniable sex appeal, but, at least for now, she’s kept things relatively PG on her OnlyFans. Elizabeth loves to keep them guessing, but even she’s not sure what the future holds on her OnlyFans. She says, “... I don’t even know what my boundaries will be. I’m still exploring it and as I become more comfortable with it, I’m going to push those boundaries.”
