If you know Battlestar Galactica, then you know Tricia Helfer. And if you know Tricia Helfer, you know she’s no stranger to the spotlight, and she’s no slouch in the looks department, either.

Helfer’s career began at only seventeen, when she was discovered by a modeling agency scout whilst waiting in line outside a Canadian movie theater. At eighteen, she won Ford Models’ Supermodel of the World competition, stepping away from modeling in favor of acting ten years later. What followed was an impressive career spanning twenty-three films and fifty-nine TV shows, including a main role on Battlestar Galactica and DC Comics’ Lucifer.

Now, she’s taking her career into her own hands with a move to OnlyFans. The mostly-adult platform has seen more and more talent from Hollywood creating accounts. Not too long ago, Scary Movie and American Pie star Shannon Elizabeth opened an OnlyFans account and reported earnings of $1.2 million in her first seven days on the app. Denise Richards, seen on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, earns between $200,000 and $300,000 per month on the platform.

But it’s not just the money that these stars crave, it’s the independence; something Tricia Helfer has also noticed. She views OnlyFans as an extension of her modeling career, but this time with even more control over her content.

“With Playboy, I had photo approval: I chose my own photos, I chose the photographer I wanted, so to me [OnlyFans is] a little bit more like that, where I’m in control of what I want to put out there,” Helfer said. The Battlestar Galactica star isn’t really doing it for the money, either. She donates a portion of her earnings to different animal-focused charities. “Sure, the money’s nice! But I’m just having fun with it. I don’t know if I’ll do it for one year or five years, but it’s my prerogative and I get to choose.”

Helfer charges new subscribers $14.99 a month, offering subscription bundles of three months and six months, discounted at 10% off and 20% off, respectively. Her 115 photos and four videos have garnered 44,000 likes and that number continues its daily growth. She describes her content as “a little sexy sometimes”, saying, “I come from a modeling background, so I’m not shying away from a certain aspect of things, but also I control it.” You can expect at least a few bikini pics, sure, but Helfer also loves sharing the behind-the-scenes parts of her day with her fans. “What I like about it is you’re setting your own boundaries, you’re setting your own parameters, and you really have a great communication with the fans,” Helfer says, adding, “I’ve been pleasantly surprised that a lot of my communications with people are just lovely. And it’s just really about communication, you know.”

As for advice on anyone else thinking of joining, the Canadian actress/model says, “Do it if you’re comfortable and do it within your own parameters.” Adding, “I think you have to do it for the right reasons and be comfortable doing what you want to do.”

Helfer says of her experience on OnlyFans so far, “It’s what you make of it and I’m just having fun with it at this point. I love it.”
