Sophie Rain's Worrying Stalker Problem

Sophie Rain has had to up her security after being approached with an absurd request by a fan in a Miami, Florida hotel lobby.

In May, right after Sophie Rain’s first fashion runway appearance at Miami Swim Week in Miami, her head of marketing says she was approached by a strange man in a hotel lobby who tried to grab her.

Connor McCrory works as Rain’s chief marketer but is also a close personal friend of hers. “He had apparently traveled from New York to Miami specifically to find Sophie. That immediately raised serious concerns for everyone around her,” McCrory said. 

McCrory says this wasn’t just a fan looking for a selfie or a photo, either. He had a very specific, creepy goal. “He claimed he had crossed several states because he intended to marry her,” McCrory recalls. 

After his bizarre statement, McCrory says he attempted to grab her, which is when the whole situation turned on its head. “When someone says they traveled that far to marry a person they have never met and then tries to grab her, you cannot treat that as harmless excitement. It has to be taken seriously,” McCrory said bluntly. “At that point, our only priority was getting [Rain] away from him and making sure she was safe,” McCrory concluded. 

McCrory says he and Rain’s team didn’t call the police, but rather reported the man to hotel staff, so he could be removed from the property swiftly. Rain’s team instructed the hotel to call the police if he returned. 

What’s scary is, this isn’t even the first instance where an unsavory character has jeopardized Rain’s safety. 

In February of 2025, a SWAT team was called to the Bop House, home of the Fort Lauderdale, Florida content creator “collective” that Rain established but is no longer a part of. Rain and her associates were attending the Super Bowl at the time, but returned to broken windows and a strange man inside. He apparently tried convincing the group of girls that he was the new owner of their property, but was unsuccessful. Rain and her friends quickly called the local authorities, who involved SWAT and the U.S. Coast Guard (since the house was on the coastline).

An hourslong standoff ensued, before SWAT raided the house and arrested the man, identified as Connor Litka of South Bend, Indiana. 

Litka had been arrested before, but nothing of this magnitude. Louisville, Kentucky police arrested him in 2024 for attempting to buy a luxury car with a fake check for $78 million. A day prior to his arrest, he attempted the same scheme with a fake $12 million check at a separate dealership. 

If only the story ended there. Just last week, multiple outlets reported that Litka is missing from a crisis center in his hometown, where he had told staff members he stopped taking his psychiatric medication. Making things even creepier, Litka allegedly also told staff he wanted to go back to “Florida to be with Sophie”, referring to Rain as his girlfriend. One staff member recalled him saying he and Rain “made a blood oath” and that it was an “intense experience”.

Rain and her team still have no idea where Litka could be. Most of Rain’s associates are worried about her, but according to McCrory, Rain is mostly concerned for Litka’s wellbeing. “I know Sophie genuinely wants the best for him, and for him to get the proper treatment and care required, but at the same time, we’ve had to hire multiple off-duty police officers to travel with her wherever she goes,” he said. Adding that, although Rain has made a lot of money, “It’s starting to cost close to $50,000 a month just for security because of stalking incidents.”

Rain said in a statement, “This situation has been deeply frightening for me and my family. I have never taken a ‘blood oath’ with this individual, and any belief that we have a personal relationship is completely untrue,” Rain said, adding, “I sincerely hope he receives the treatment and support he needs, but my priority has to be protecting my safety and the people around me. Because this is an ongoing legal and security matter, I cannot discuss specific precautions being taken.”
