Among those who question people for doing OnlyFans, one thing is often top of their mind: “What do your parents think about you doing this?” People use this question to try and make OnlyFans creators feel ashamed for doing what they do. But what happens when parents are not only fine with it, it was their idea?
Meet Chelsea Jenks, a voluptuous blonde fitness influencer on OnlyFans. She says that joining the site was her dad’s idea and she couldn’t be more pleased with the financial upside. “Years before I ever started, he actually said to me, ‘You should do OnlyFans,’” Jenks said. Her dad got the idea after watching boxing, one of his favorite sports. “My dad is really into boxing, and you get a lot of women boxers who also do OnlyFans,” said Jenks, adding, “There was a female boxer he followed who had ‘no nudes’ written in her bio, and he thought it seemed like a good way to make money.”
Jenks’ father might just be onto something. Most successful OnlyFans pages can earn thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars a day. Actress Bella Thorne claims to have made over a million bucks in just one day.
But, at the time of her father’s suggestion, Jenks didn’t feel ready yet. After all, it was obvious famous actresses could make a killing on OnlyFans, they were famous. Chelsea had her fans, for sure, but didn’t have the notoriety of a Bella Thorne or a Shannon Elizabeth. She wanted her dad to know how difficult it really would be to start an OnlyFans. “I remember explaining to him it was a lot more than just pictures and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it.”
What’s funny to Jenks is that her father used to be very strict raising her. She wasn’t allowed to stay out late with boyfriends or anything of the sort. So, when she finally launched her page after years of contemplation, she was anticipating a difficult conversation.
What actually happened was anything but difficult. He had already seen that his daughter had started an OnlyFans page, and his response was, “‘Yeah, that’s alright,’” as Jenks recalls. In fact, now Jenks and her dad use it as an inside joke. “He’ll say things like, ‘Chelsea would flash her boobs and get paid for it.’ It’s very tongue-in-cheek.” She says that both her parents are accepting of her decision and love her for who she is. “I’m a good daughter, I’m respectful, and I’ve got good manners. As long as I’m like that with them, they don’t really care what I do for work,” Jenks said, adding that the stigma surrounding OnlyFans work makes her sad.
“People look down on girls on OnlyFans and assume we’re a certain way, but it doesn’t work like that,” Jenks said. She adds that she’s only been sexually active with her long term partner of nine years, “but people will judge me more than they judge someone in a so-called respectable job who might be doing things behind closed doors.”
“I see girls posting about their dads sending them horrible messages about doing OnlyFans. My parents might not love every detail of what I do, but they just want me to be happy and to make as much money as I can while I’m doing it to help set myself up for the future.”
Now, Jenks has hundreds of thousands of followers and is making a living thanks to OnlyFans. Fighting stereotypes can be exhausting, but Jenks has a simple question for anyone asking why she does OnlyFans. “As long as I’m not harming anyone or scamming anyone, why does it matter? At the end of the day, it’s work.” As for her parents, Jenks says, “[They] know I do OnlyFans and that it’s more than just posting photos online. But I don’t think they need to know all the specifics, and honestly, I think that’s completely normal.”
