Family Gets Millions After OnlyFans Star Suffers Permanent Brain Damage

Emily Willis was consistently one of porn’s best performers. During the early 2020s, she swept multiple adult awards shows, winning Female Performer of The Year two years in a row, at two separate awards ceremonies. Now, after being found unresponsive at a rehab facility in 2024, her family finally has the settlement money, but they still don’t know why this happened.

Born in Argentina and raised in St. George, Utah, Willis relocated to San Diego, met a porn producer on a dating app, and began a career that would span over 700 adult films. Willis moved back to Utah, then over to Las Vegas before settling in Los Angeles, one of the biggest cities for people in the adult industry. Like most adult performers, she also had a hugely successful stint on OnlyFans, later branching out into mainstream acting. She appeared in Divinity, produced by Hollywood legend Steven Soderbergh. At one point, Willis even starred in a music video for the metal band Slipknot.

In January of 2024, Willis checked into a rehab facility, seeking help for her addiction to Ketamine. She felt overworked, the OnlyFans agency Willis had been working with was pressuring her to film more content than she had time for. This all came at a time when Willis was attempting to distance herself from the adult industry and pursue other ventures. 

According to the complaint filed against Summit Malibu, the rehab community, Willis quickly began showing signs that something was off. On just her second day there, after paying $45,500 in cash for treatment, she was refusing her medications and nurses noticed symptoms of withdrawal. Two days later, the facility described her as “disheveled, frail, disoriented,” with “poor” judgement. To make matters worse, the facility also noted she was having trouble walking. Summit Malibu staff recommended she be treated at an urgent care multiple times, but Willis declined each time. According to the suit, Willis was never visited by a doctor during her time in rehab.

By the time February 3rd rolled in, the OnlyFans icon and multidisciplinary star reported difficulty breathing, was seen by paramedics, but she didn’t let them transport her to the hospital. The very next day, a facility nurse discovered she wasn’t breathing, she had no pulse and her eyes were open with fixed pupils. The clinician assigned to Willis reportedly went out for lunch 30 minutes before she was discovered; yet observation logs obtained in the lawsuit show the clinician’s initials in 15 minute intervals, suggesting he checked on Willis repeatedly when he was supposedly off the property. 

Paramedics spent almost an hour performing life-saving measures on Willis before she regained her pulse. Devastatingly, her brain went too long without oxygen and is now irreparably damaged. Various reports say that Willis has been left “completely incapacitated”, communicating only through grunts and hardly able to open her eyes. Other than occasionally smiling or showing emotion, Doctors anticipate her condition won’t improve. 

Her family settled the lawsuit against Summit Malibu for $3 million. After legal fees, it’s estimated they’ll receive $1.26 million, with almost all of that going towards Willis’ long term care. 

Willis was one of the adult industry’s most roundly-liked performers. She was known for being organized and driven, showing true passion for all forms of art and expression. The lawsuit may be over, but what’s still in question is what happened in the 30 minutes Willis spent unsupervised. Summit Malibu denies any wrongdoing, citing Willis’ repeated refusal of medical advice and medication. They claim their employees didn’t have the authority to force Willis to receive medical attention. Even though the case has already been litigated, questions still remain.
